Understanding views
1 row = 1 document
Section titled “1 row = 1 document”Each row in a view represents a single document. The columns show key details so you can scan and compare documents quickly.
You can interact with rows in a few simple ways:
- Select one or more rows with the checkbox to work in bulk.
- Open a document from the row actions to review it in full.
- Open the details panel to see more metadata without leaving the view.
- Add selected documents to your AI chat context from the toolbar.
Columns and metadata
Section titled “Columns and metadata”Columns define what information you see for each document. A view can combine built-in document fields with your own custom fields.
Add columns
Section titled “Add columns”- Open the view you want to edit.
- Select Add column and choose a field from the list.
- The column appears at the end of the table.
Reorder columns
Section titled “Reorder columns”Drag a column header left or right to change the order. This updates how the view is displayed without changing the documents themselves.
Edit cell values
Section titled “Edit cell values”Click a cell to update a value such as a title, a date, or a custom field. Changes are saved on the document, so they stay consistent across views.
For filtering and sorting options, see Filters and sorting.
Views vs folders
Section titled “Views vs folders”Views and folders solve different problems:
- Views are saved ways to display documents. They show the same documents through different columns, filters, and sorting.
- Folders are where documents live. Moving a document to another folder changes its location.
Use folders to build your structure, and use views to answer questions like “Which documents match these criteria?” or “What needs review this week?”
